Quantum Cooperation of Two Insects
نویسنده
چکیده
The physical concept of quantum entanglement is brought to the biological domain. We simulate the cooperation of two insects by hypothesizing that they share a large number of quantum entangled spin-12 particles. Each of them makes measurements on these particles to decide whether to execute certain actions. In the first example, two ants must push a pebble, which may be too heavy for one ant. In the second example, two distant butterflies must find each other. In both examples the individuals make odour-guided random choices of possible directions, followed by a quantum decision whether to push/fly or to wait. With quantum entanglement the two ants can push the pebble up to twice as far as independent ants, and the two butterflies may need as little as half of the flight path of independent butterflies to find each other.

Insects Associated with Animal Carcasses in the Margoon Region of Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad Province with Two New Records from South West of Iran
Background and Aim: Insects associated with dead bodies are very diverse and very important in decomposition and recycling of the carcasses. The present study was conducted in the Margoon region of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad province (Iran) to determine the species diversity of carrion insects associated with decomposing remains of different animals. Materials and Methods: Different cadavers ...

ABSTRACT- Several species of aphids cause severe damage to citrus in the north of Iran. Predatory insects play an important role in biological control of the pests in citrus orchards. In this study, potential predatory insects of citrus aphids, Aphis spiraecola, A. gossypii and Toxoptera aurantii, were identified and their seasonal population dynamics...
متن کاملCognitive cooperation : When the going gets tough, think as a group.
Cooperation can evolve in the context of cognitive activities such as perception, attention, memory, and decision making, in addition to physical activities such as hunting, gathering, warfare, and childcare. The social insects are well known to cooperate on both physical and cognitive tasks, but the idea of cognitive cooperation in humans has not received widespread attention or systematic stu...
متن کاملChemical Composition and Insecticidal Activity of Myrtle (Myrtus communis L.) Essential Oil against Two Stored-Product Pests
Essential oil extracted from the leaves of Myrtle, Myrtus communis L. (Myrtaceae)was tested in vitro for volatile toxicity against two stored-product insects (Tribolium confusum and Callosobruchus maculatus). The chemical composition of the plant oil was examined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The major oil components were α-pinene (10.4%), α- Terpineol (10.1%), linalool (9.0%...
متن کاملProphenoloxidase activation: nonself recognition and cell cooperation in insect immunity.
The mechanism of nonself recognition by the immune system of insects is unknown. In this report the activation of the prophenoloxidase system in the wax moth Galleria mellonella by a microbial product is shown to enhance the recognition of nonself material. These results explain previous observations of the interaction of two different blood cell populations in the cellular defense reactions of...
